2009 Coaching Staff
Rick Sweet - Manager
Sweet,
56, was named the International League's Manager of the Year in 2008 and in four
seasons as the Bats skipper, is 303-272. He is now the all-time leader on
Louisville's career managerial win list and he entered 2008 needing 49 victories
to pass Jim Fregosi (263-232) and 82 to eclipse Dave Miley (296-245) to claim
the top spot. Following a nine-year playing career (1975-83) as a catcher,
including three seasons in the Majors with San Diego, New York-NL and Seattle,
Sweet began managing in 1987 and owns a career mark of 1,352-1,327 in 20
seasons.
Smokey Garrett - Hitting Coach
Adrian "Smokey" Garrett
returns for his seventh season as Louisville's hitting coach. Garrett played 19
years of professional baseball (1961-79), including parts of eight seasons in
the Majors with Atlanta, Chicago-NL, Oakland and California.
Ted Power - Pitching Coach

Former Redbird Ted Power
will enter his fourth season as Louisville's pitching coach. Power enjoyed a
13-year Major League career, including five seasons (1983-87) with Cincinnati.
Tomas Vera - Trainer

Tomas Vera
begins his first season as head trainer for the Bats and third
in the Reds organization.
Gabe Moreno -
Strength & Conditioning Coach

Gabe Moreno is back with Louisville for a second year after spending the
2007 season with the Bats as the team's strength and
conditioning coach.
