Mike McKenry's misfortune was the Tulsa Drillers' good fortune. The Tulsa catcher was supposed to be on his way to Europe to represent the United States in the Baseball World Cup, but a concussion he suffered from a foul ball derailed those plans and kept him with Drillers. Saturday night, McKenry rescued Tulsa's playoff hopes with a walk-off, three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Drillers a 4-3 win over Northwest Arkansas at Drillers Stadium.

An old nemesis came back to again haunt the Tulsa Drillers Thursday night. In the one-game playoff earlier this season that determined the first-half North Division champion, Springfield pitcher Trey Hearne beat Jhoulys Chacin and the Drillers to claim the title. Only five days after getting blanked by Mark Mulder in a rehab appearance for the Springfield Cardinals, the Tulsa Drillers got a second chance at the St. Louis Cardinals lefthander Friday night. In round two, the offensive production was better but the end result was the same, a loss for the Drillers. Springfield rallied from a 3-0 deficit to claim a 12-4 victory at Drillers Stadium, ending Tulsa's two-game winning streak.
