Mike Zuanich went yard twice and drove in five runs Wednesday as the Modesto Nuts rallied from an eight-run deficit for a 14-11 victory over the Lancaster JetHawks.

Zuanich, a 28th-round pick by the Rockies in 2008, slugged a two-run homer in the fifth inning to get the Nuts within 8-2. He added a solo shot to key a six-run seventh that put Modesto in front, 11-8.

With the game tied, 11-11, in the ninth, the 24-year-old first baseman delivered a bases-loaded single that popped out of the glove of right fielder Brandon Barnes. Zuanich was credited with two RBIs, with Jordan Pacheco scoring on the throw.

Zuanich, who went 4-for-6, is batting .268 with three homers and 11 RBIs in 22 games for Modesto. After hitting .154 in 12 games last month, the California native has warmed up with a .417 average in July.

Pacheco reached base three times, driving in two runs and scored twice. David Christensen was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while former first-round pick Tim Wheeler smacked a two-run double for the Nuts (47-43). Leadoff hitter Scott Robinson stole two bases and scored twice.

Starter Ken Durst was taken off the hook by the Nuts' offense. The left-hander surrendered eight runs on 12 hits over 5 1/3 innings. Kurt Yacko (6-2) got the win, striking out two and giving up a hit in 1 2/3 scoreless frames. Adam Jorgensen worked around a hit in the ninth to earn his 20th save, getting help from Zuanich, who turned an unassisted double play.

Albert Cartwright homered and drove in two runs, while Lee Cruz hit a solo shot, his seventh in 33 games with the JetHawks. Brian Pellegrini also went yard, while Barry Butera plated three runs.
