Every time an Owlz pitcher recorded a strike out against an opposing player, Thrive donated $10 to the Orem Kiwanis Club - an organization that exists to help meet the many needs of Utah children. The Owlz recorded over 600 strike outs during the 2009 season which led to more than $6,000 donated to help fund programs for local kids. "This was a wonderful program for us to be a part of," said Owlz General Manager Aaron Wells. "Thrive and the Orem Kiwanis Club should be greatly recognized for their efforts and contributions to the community and we are certainly glad our pitchers could help out."
