MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Fresh off a Pacific Coast League championship, Memphis Redbirds manager Chris Maloney will return for a fourth season with the Redbirds in 2010.

Maloney led the 'Birds to their first PCL title since 2000 this past season with series sweeps over Albuquerque and Sacramento. The Mississippi native is 208-222 in his three years at the helm for Memphis and has posted two straight winning seasons, going 154-134 the last two years.

The Redbirds coaching staff will have one new face in 2010 with former Major League pitcher Derek Lilliquist joining the staff as the club's pitching coach. The former Georgia Bulldog pitched for eight years in the big leagues for Atlanta, San Diego, Cleveland, Boston and Cincinnati. The Braves selected the lefty sixth overall in the 1987 draft after the Seattle Mariners chose Ken Griffey Jr. with the top pick. Lilliquist has spent the last two seasons as the pitching coordinator for the Cardinals Complex in Jupiter, Fla.

Returning for his third year with the Redbirds will be hitting coach Mark Budaska. Memphis posted a .268 team average this past season and hit a league-best .313 in the PCL playoffs. Reigning PCL Athletic Trainer of the Year Chris Conroy returns to the 'Birds for his sixth year.

The Memphis Redbirds begin the defense of their PCL crown on April 8 at Omaha before returning home on April 16 to face Oklahoma City. For season ticket or group information call 901.721.6000 or visit memphisredbirds.com.
