"After 14 incredible seasons with the Vermont Expos/Lake Monsters, I must express to you with great sadness and joy my desire for a change," said Knudsen. "I've had a great run with this organization, but need to spread my wings and look for new challenges."
A 1992 graduate of Rice Memorial High School, Knudsen first joined the then-Vermont Expos back in 1995 as a summer intern. After graduating from Keene State College in 1996, he rejoined the Expos in March of 1997 as the Assistant General Manager and was then promoted to General Manager in June of 2000.
"During my time with the ball club, I've had the pleasure to work with a lot good people with the team and also the opportunity to work with great people in the community," Knudsen said. "As I've said since day one, we really do have the best fans in baseball."
Knudsen was named the 2003 New York-Penn League Executive of the Year Award and was the 2006 recipient of the Robert Julian Community & Baseball Service Award, an honor given by the NY-Penn League to an individual for their contributions to both their community and to baseball. He is also the Executive Director of the NY-Penn League Charitable Foundation, which gives back to the hometowns of the league's teams.
