Robles' stats Nats second-round pick suspended Drug policy coverage NEW YORK -- A pair of Cubs Minor Leaguers were suspended for 50 games on Thursday after testing positive for three steroids while playing in the Dominican Summer League. The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that DSL Cubs pitcher Eric Martinez and outfielder Gregorio Robles have received 50-game suspensions after each tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Martinez, 0-2 with a 5.53 ERA in 12 outings this season, tested positive for stanozolol. Robles tested positive for boldenone and clomiphene. He was batting .222 with no homers and 12 RBIs in 56 games for the team. The suspensions of both players, which bring the total for the 2009 season in the Minors to 52, are effective immediately. |
