Tekulve will serve as honorary manager for the National League side in the All-Star Game and assist Brooklyn manager, Pedro Lopez, while Bumbry will be the American League squad's honorary skipper and aid Mahoning Valley manager, Travis Fryman.

Both former big leaguers will also sign autographs on a first-come, first-served basis prior to the game from 5-5:30 p.m, and throw out ceremonial first pitches at the Midsummer Classic.

Kent Tekulve
In a 16-year career from 1974-89, which included time with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies and Cincinnati Reds, Tekulve racked up 184 career saves and led the league in single-season pitching appearances four times. A right-hander with a submarine delivery, Teke was a mainstay in the Pirates bullpen from 1975-84, saving three games in the 1979 World Series, including Game 7, to help the Pirates win their last World Series title to date. Tekulve also earned a berth in the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in 1980, and his 1,050 career appearances ranked second in Major League history when he retired in 1989.

Al Bumbry
The 1973 American League Rookie of the Year, Bumbry was a vital cog in Earl Weaver's powerhouse Baltimore Orioles teams of that decade. Bumbry spent 14 years in the Major Leagues with Baltimore and San Diego, compiling a .281 career batting average and 1,422 career hits. Bumbry also went to the Major League All-Star Game in 1980 for the American League side, going 0-for-1 in the contest. In addition to his accomplishments in the outfield, Bumbry led the American League in triples in 1973.

Tekulve and Bumbry will join a star-studded list of celebrities at the events surrounding the 2009 New York-Penn League All-Star Game. Guests slated to appear include former Penn State forward Jamelle Cornley and former Penn State kicker Chris Bahr, who will meet fans at the Downtown State College All-Star Fan Fest on Sunday, Aug. 16. The roster of stars for the Celebrity Home Run Derby, which precedes the All-Star Game on Tuesday, is yet to be announced.
