The total attendance for the 15 leagues and 176 clubs was 33,386,654, up 2.4% over last year. This season began two days earlier than last year's schedule, resulting in 196 more openings and 794,667 more fans entering August. Six leagues are drawing more fans than they did last year, while another four are within one percent of their 2007 attendance figures through July. The Texas League has improved the most, with a 6.1% increase over last year. The Mexican (5.8%), Pioneer (4.0%), International (2.1%), Carolina (1.2%) and Midwest (0.7%) leagues also have experienced a jump in attendance. The four circuits within one percent of their 2007 numbers are the Southern, California, New York-Penn and Northwest leagues. |
