Thirteen months after undergoing Tommy John surgery, Brad Lincoln, the Pittsburgh Pirates first round draft pick in 2006, will make his first start following surgery on Sunday, May 18th against the Rome Braves in Rome, GA.

Lincoln was the 4th player selected in the 2006 draft after a dominant season with the University of Houston, which culminated in his selection as the American Baseball Coaches Association Division I Player of the Year, as well as receiving the Dick Howser trophy, given to the nation's top collegiate player. In 2006, Lincoln went 12-2 with 1.69 ERA and 152 strikeouts in 127 2/3 innings while walking only 32.

Lincoln made his debut with Hickory in July of 2006. In four starts, Lincoln went 1-2 with a 6.75 ERA before missing the remainder of the season with a strained left oblique muscle.

To make room on the roster, LHP Zac Oliver was sent to the GCL Pirates roster. In 2008, Oliver has made four starts with Hickory going 1-1 with a 5.21 ERA, striking out 12 in 19 innings.
