'Hawks host 'Tumbleweed Tuesdays'

As part of its tribute to the windy conditions that are prevalent in the Antelope Valley, the Lancaster JetHawks, Class A affiliate of the World Series champion Boston Red Sox, will discount Reserved Section tickets for all Tuesday home games during the 2008 regular season, based on the wind recording the day before each Tuesday home game.

It's an annual JetHawks tradition called "Tumbleweed Tuesday".

The wind speed was measured by JetHawks Assistant General Manager and amateur meteorologist Derek Sharp. A happy child growing up, Sharp truly believes that the Hokey Pokey is what it's all about. Having organized a group Hokey Pokey dance with all the JetHawks players this morning, Derek carefully counted how many left elbows were put in. Then, using an algorithm developed by Raffi, he was able to calculate the wind speed.

Sharp's calculations determined that the wind speed at Clear Channel Stadium this afternoon was a gusty 15 MPH, meaning Reserved Section tickets will cost only $1.50 for tomorrow's game against the Modesto Nuts. Tickets are priced at 10-cents for each MPH of wind recorded.

Great tickets for individual games as well as season ticket and mini-plan packages are available now. Contact the JetHawks box office by phone at (661) 726-500 or online at www.JetHawks.com.
