It was anything but a listless day at the plate for Fort Myers' Erik Lis on Monday.

After driving in three runs over the first six games in August, Lis homered twice and collected five RBIs as the Miracle outslugged the Daytona Cubs, 8-5, at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

Lis enjoyed his first career five-hit night, going 5-for-5 and scoring three times for the Miracle (22-23).

He wasted little time giving Fort Myers the lead when he hit the first of his two home runs -- a two-run shot to right-center field -- in the first inning. Six innings later, Lis delivered a two-run blast to right field to give the Miracle a 5-3 lead.

The Illinois native capped his night off with an RBI single to center in the ninth.

The 23-year-old first baseman cranked six RBIs with South Bend against Wisconsin on Aug. 5, 2006. Lis' only other two-homer game came during his rookie season with Elizabethton on Aug. 30, 2005.

Juan Portes and Edward Ovalle plated runs for Fort Myers, and Daniel Valencia went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored.

Zachary Ward (3-15) won his first game since May 26, snapping a streak of nine straight losing starts. The 23-year-old right-hander lasted six innings, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks while striking three. Eduardo Morlan picked up his 14th save despite giving up a run on one hit and three walks in 1 2/3 innings.

Matt Matulia went 3-for-5 with a triple, two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored and Ryan Harvey cranked a solo home run and a double and scored twice for the Cubs (18-26).

Reliever Scott Taylor (4-11) allowed five runs -- two earned -- on six hits and a wild pitch in 2 2/3 innings for the loss.
