The spotlight that comes as a result of being the No. 1 overall pick in the draft can be a little unkind. Having been a guy who held out and then re-entered the draft will make it that much stronger. But while Hochevar hasn't exactly been dominating as a pro, he did make it to the big leagues just a year after being drafted. In many ways, his stuff has been better than his numbers indicate. He can throw four pitches for strikes and all of them -- fastball, curve, slider and changeup -- have the potential to be Major League-average or better.

Signed to a Major League contract, Hochevar was going to get to Kansas City eventually, but he handled himself well in the brief time he was up in the bigs. That cup of coffee could be enough to land him on the Royals' staff for good. If he's ready for a rotation spot, Kansas City will certainly make room for him.
