First baseman/designated hitter Jimmy VanOstrand and catcher Jonathon Fixler visit the 510 Texan Trail Whataburger location between 10 and 12 on Saturday, July 31. They will sign autographs, talk with fans and participate in a remote broadcast by KFTX-FM, 97.5 FM. A portion of the day's lunch proceeds benefit Operation S.O.S. (Supply Our Students).
Jason Boland & The Stragglers have been added to the Whataburger Field roster of performers for Ziegfest on Saturday, October 2. They join The Charlie Daniels Band, The Toadies, Jack Ingram, Bob Schneider and The Reverend Horton Heat for a multi-stage, nine-hour extravaganza at the ballpark twice voted the top minor league venue in North America.
New season-ticket holders for 2011 will enjoy a Rookie Camp at the ballpark this offseason. They'll pick seats for 2011, enjoy complimentary food and beverage, take behind-the-scenes tours and learn about Hooks traditions. Registrants who purchase 2011 season tickets are entered in a drawing for complimentary private suite use during a game next season.
Selena Tribute Night, presented by State Farm, is Friday, July 30, when the Hooks play host to Midland in Texas League baseball at 7:05. The event is sponsored by the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, KSAB Tejano 99.9, LaPreciosa 1400 AM and Capitol Latin/EMI. The first 2,500 fans through the turnstiles receive a Selena poster. Gates open at 5:30.
