Strawberry signing at SWB Spring Fest
03/18/2009 10:54 PM ET
MOOSIC, Pa. -- Spring officially begins on March 20, but the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees are thinking summer and are more than ready for warmer temperatures, longer days and a brand new baseball season.

The Yankees will host their third annual Spring Fest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, giving fans a chance to purchase single-game tickets, meet a former Yankee and get a "taste" of the new concessions at PNC Field.

Spring Fest will provide guests with the opportunity to meet former Yankees outfielder Darryl Strawberry, who will be on hand to greet fans and sign autographs from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Darryl Strawberry was one of the most feared sluggers in the game, known for his prodigious home runs and his intimidating presence in the batter's box with his 6-foot-6 frame and his long, looping swing. During his 17-year career, he helped lead the New York Mets to one World Series championship in 1986 and the New York Yankees to three World Series championships in 1996, 1998 and 1999.

In addition to the box office opening and Strawberry's appearance, fans will be treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the Yankees beautiful locker room, photos with Champ, fun in the Frontier Fan Zone and an exciting sneak peak into Legends Hospitality Management's new concession menus as well as the latest merchandise items in the Team Store.

"It's been a long, cold winter and I know our fans can't wait to experience a sure sign of spring and warmer weather -- Yankees baseball," Yankees president Kristen Rose said. "We are excited about the upcoming season, especially the new and improved food options Legends Hospitality Management will be providing."

Individual game tickets will also be available online at www.swbyankees.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 570-693-4100.
