Mastny Optioned to Bisons 03/26/2008 10:42 AM ETBuffalo Bisons
The Cleveland Indians today announced that RHP Tom Mastny has been optioned to the Buffalo Bisons roster. Mastny, 27, spent the entire 2007 in the Cleveland Indians' bullpen. He was 7-2 with a 4.68ERA in 51 games with the Tribe (57.2IP, 63H, 30R, 30ER, 32BB, 52K). His seven wins were T2nd among all American League relievers. Mastny pitched for the Bisons in 2006, going 2-1 with a 2.61ERA in 24 games (38.0IP, 25H, 11R, 11ER, 16BB, 46K). His ERA and .184 batting average against were the lowest on the team among pitchers with at least 20.0 innings of work. He struck out 46 batters and allowed just 25 hits. Mastny, 6-6, 225lb, was acquired by the Indians on December 14, 2004 in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays (INF John McDonald). Born in Borneo, Indonesia, he is the only Indonesian native to appear in the Major Leagues.
